The 1940's kitchen felt very dark and cramped and there was very little storage and countertop space. We created light and spaciousness by adding skylights and a large opening into the sunny dining room. We added functionality by closing up a low sill window facing a blank wall and completely removing or converting swinging doors to pocket doors. The new kitchen combines semi-custom cabinets with custom-made pieces. The space succeeds in maximizing storage while preserving an open generous space that works great for entertaining, homework and daily cooking.
